A Day in the Life of a Kindergartener

Written by Alice Christie and Ian Miller

Kindergarten is a special time in everyone’s life. Kindergarteners learn so much throughout the year and are given many opportunities for growth. Here at 84, kindergarten is led by Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Hammon. We learned that a typical day consists of language, math and writing, with opportunities to form friendships and become more independent. Kindergarten is a great school year spent learning about what it means to be principled, responsible and caring.

This school year, the kindergarten class has some very exciting events coming up, including field trips to the zoo, the once-in-a-lifetime maple syrup trip and learning about fire safety. Events at school include the nursery rhyme parade and the 100th day of school!

Although, for now, everyone is still getting to know each other. Noah A, Phoenix, Walter, Emma, Connor and Opal told us their favorite part of the day is choice time and secret stories. Walter, from Mrs. Hammon’s class, said his favorite part of the year so far has been running announcements. Emma and Opal are both looking forward to the next Kids Night In. “I feel like the best thing about our school is that we can make new friends,” said Noah A.

We hope that all the kindergarteners have the chance to make new friends this year! Kindergarten is an amazing year for growth and learning, and we wish the best of luck to all of our friends in kindergarten!
