Ingredients
1 box cake mix, any flavor
⅓-1 cup frosting, any flavor
1 ½ cups candy melts
Instructions
Prepare the boxed cake according to the packaged directions.
Let the cake cool, then crumble the cake into a bowl.
Stir ⅓ cup the frosting into the cake, adding more if the cake mix is still crumbly. Freeze until chilled.
Roll the mixture into evenly sized-balls. Freeze the cake pops until chilled.
Place the cake pops onto a baking sheet and melt ⅓ cup of the chocolate chips in the microwave or a double-boiler.
Dip one end of a lollipop stick into chocolate, insert it into cake pops, and repeat with all of them. Put in the freezer until solidified.
Melt the remaining candy melts in a microwave or a double boiler.
Dip each cake pop into the chocolate, twirl and stand upright (see tip below) until set.
Add desired sprinkles or decorations to the cake pops and allow them to harden.
Store in fridge or eat.
Tips
Let the cake mixture cool so it’s easier to roll.
We made a turkey by adding candy corn feathers, eyes, yellow and red sprinkles.
Be prepared to wait! These take about 2 hours to make.
Use a shoebox with holes poked at the top as a cake pop stand.
