Cake Pops

Makes 15

Ingredients

  • 1 box cake mix, any flavor

  • ⅓-1 cup frosting, any flavor

  • 1 ½ cups candy melts

Instructions

  • Prepare the boxed cake according to the packaged directions.

  • Let the cake cool, then crumble the cake into a bowl.

  • Stir ⅓ cup the frosting into the cake, adding more if the cake mix is still crumbly. Freeze until chilled.

  • Roll the mixture into evenly sized-balls. Freeze the cake pops until chilled.

  • Place the cake pops onto a baking sheet and melt ⅓ cup of the chocolate chips in the microwave or a double-boiler.

  • Dip one end of a lollipop stick into chocolate, insert it into cake pops, and repeat with all of them. Put in the freezer until solidified.

  • Melt the remaining candy melts in a microwave or a double boiler.

  • Dip each cake pop into the chocolate, twirl and stand upright (see tip below) until set.

  • Add desired sprinkles or decorations to the cake pops and allow them to harden.

  • Store in fridge or eat.

Tips

  • Let the cake mixture cool so it’s easier to roll.

  • We made a turkey by adding candy corn feathers, eyes, yellow and red sprinkles.

  • Be prepared to wait! These take about 2 hours to make.

  • Use a shoebox with holes poked at the top as a cake pop stand.
