Day in the Life of a Fourth Grader

By: Alice Christie and Ian Miller

Fourth grade has an extremely exciting year ahead of them! Led by Ms. Cook and Ms. Johnson, fourth grade is a fun time for all students. Currently, in their unit of inquiry, the fourth graders are learning about the pioneers. Student Emma said, “I really like this class because we get to experiment”. All the fourth graders are looking forward to their field trip to Conner Prairie too, where they will get to explore and learn more about the pioneers. Student Emelia is looking forward to the famed wax museum project. In addition to unit of inquiry, fourth graders study math, ELA, science, and related arts. Ms. Cook said that they are currently beginning on their decimals unit. Outside of typical learning topics, fourth grade focuses on the learner profiles communicator and balanced. In fourth grade, kids are very independent and begin to learn about who they want to be in their lives. Many fun games happen in the classroom, but none more so than the prank wars! A fun battle between Ms. Johnson’s class and Ms. Collins’ Class (third grade) has been ongoing since the beginning of the year. Student Grant says “Collins’ Class is going down!”
