Hired or Fired?

Updated: Dec 15, 2022

By: Emma Towns

As you all know, Frank Reich got fired as the Colts head coach on November 6th. But then former center Jeff Saturday became the interim coach on November 7, 2022. He has coached before, but not for an NFL team. He coached at Hebron Christian Academy, a high school in Georgia for three years. Saturday has experience with Indianapolis. He played center with Peyton Manning from the 1999 to 2011 season. Also he won us our first ever Super Bowl in 2007.

In the past 10 years, the NFL has had 17 interim coaches and only two of them became the full-time head coach for the team. The record for Saturday as the head coach for Indianapolis is 1-3. When asked if Saturday should be the coach next season, third grader Owen Gates said “Yes, because he is aggressive, passionate and better than the last coach. I think he is doing well. He used to play for the Colts. He snapped for Peyton Manning, and he loves the Colts. I have been a Colts fan my whole life.”

The Colts only have four games left, but in the off season, owner Jim Irsay will decide if Saturday is hired or fired!
