Tomorrow is the long-awaited day for many 84 students! The school musical, “Newsies Jr!” will premiere under the excellent direction of Miss Byrd, Miss Head, Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Loftus, and parent Stephanie Becher. Fifty-eight students will appear in the MTI Broadway Jr. Production. This year’s show has 15 songs and is packed full of enthusiastic dances, powerful harmonies, and a great message that is sure to bring the audience to its feet in a standing ovation. "Newsies, Jr. feels very different than the 'princess genre' musicals we've given audiences in the past," says Head. "Expect to be transported back to 1890s New York as the cast brings their hard-working, angry, tough kid characters to life through song in this true story."

The stage crew has been working hard to make the sets for the show, including backdrops, signs, and a printing press! The performers have been memorizing lyrics, choreography, lines, and blocking for the show since October. With such a determined cast, crew, and group of directors, this musical is sure to be spectacular! Performances are at 2pm and 7pm on Saturday, April 29th at Shortridge High School. Tickets are available at the door. Make sure to come to see these Newsies make history as they take down The World!
