Have you ever wondered about Groundhog Day? Well you don’t have to wonder anymore! Groundhog Day is like a weather forecast without the weather app. On Groundhog Day, February 2, the famous groundhog named Punxsutawney Phil pops out of his hole in Pennsylvania while the whole world looks on to see if winter will last longer or if spring is coming.
If Phil sees his shadow, then it means there are six more weeks of winter. If he does not see his shadow, then it means spring is coming soon! First grader Emery Lazin wants there to be six more weeks of winter; however, third graders Olivia Lazin and Camden Gilvin want spring to come early. The groundhog isn’t always accurate. In fact, Phil is actually less accurate than a game of chance. He’s only right 39% of the time!
So which do you want - spring to come soon or six more weeks of winter? Tell us in the comments!
