Purdue

By Eliza Smiley

Purdue University is a public college located in West Lafayette, Indiana. It is known as one of the ten finest STEM schools in the country and also boasts outstanding business, nursing, and agricultural programs. Purdue is ranked as the 51st-best college by U.S. News, making it the highest-rated public university in Indiana. According to purdue.edu, they have kept their tuition for in-state students at $9,992 for eleven years, compared to the average cost of an in-state public college, $11,000. This has helped graduates save a billion dollars in tuition, and 60% have no college debt! This is nearly two times the average amount! Purdue presently holds the Old Oaken Bucket, a trophy that is awarded to either Indiana University or Purdue depending on a singular football game every year. Purdue is leading this series with 76 wins compared to IU’s 42. They have won eight titles in The Big Ten Conference in addition to the men’s basketball team's record of the most Big Ten wins at 24. Overall, Purdue University is a distinguished college for both academics and sports.

IU

By Colvin Meek

Indiana University is a great college located in Bloomington, Indiana. Bloomington is a great place, with one source saying, “Once you visit Bloomington, you'll fall in love.” This is very understandable because Bloomington has so much to love, including live music, lots of ethnic restaurants and over 40 annual festivals. There are also many small businesses in Bloomington making it a very cool developing town. Indiana’s acceptance rate is 85.4% as of 2020, which is far better than Purdue’s acceptance rate of only 67.2%, making Indiana the more accessible school. Now, let's talk about sports. As of this article being published Indiana is 7-1 but their season is very hopeful. Indiana ranks 39th worldwide out of universities world wide. They are also widely regarded as one of the best universities for arts and humanities. They are also known for their economic and business schools. Overall I believe that Indiana is a good school in all aspects, and I think it is the best choice in Indiana.
