PYP Excursions; Exploring the World Around Us

By: Clara Rosenbarger

Anticipation is building for PYP students as several field trips are being planned.

According to Mrs. Sullivan, the 2nd graders have a trip planned to The Children's Museum coming up in February for their Sharing The Planet; Rights of a Child unit. They’ll be visiting the Helen Keller, Ruby Bridges, Ryan White, and Malala Yousafzai exhibits. “We’re focusing on the impact they had around the world.” Ms.Sullivan explains.

While not exactly a field trip, the 1st garders are going to start their How We Express Ourselves unit, where they’ll be creating art to sell to their families at a “sidewalk sale.” There is also talk of the 1st graders getting a trip to Connor Prarie for their Sharing the Planet unit.

For more traditional field trips the 4th graders have a field trip to the Benjamin Harrison house on February 9th. Mrs. Miller also revealed that on Jan. 31 the kindergarteners will be going “to the IN State Museum for a STEM workshop and then March 12 is our annual Maple Syrup trip.”
